Job Description

JOB TITLE:

Food and Beverage Assistant

Reporting to:

Restaurant and Bars Manager

PRIMARY

ACCOUNTABILITY:

To work under the direction of the Restaurant Manager and supervisors, assisting with all restaurant mise-en-place and food service to guests, ensuring that all guests receive an efficient and courteous service at all times

Key accountabilities:

Daily Operations

- To be responsible for restaurant mise-on-place, which will include the following:

* polishing glassware, silver and china.

* stocking the hot and cold buffets

* cleaning and stocking the sideboards

* ensuring correct levels of linen, crockery, cutlery and silver is available throughout service

* cleaning and replenishing of the cruets / condiments

* returning used linen and collecting fresh

- To be responsible for the cleanliness of all equipment used in the restaurant and ancillary areas

- To ensure restaurant checks have been received in the kitchen

- To check that restaurant tables are correctly laid up according to the standards of the restaurant before any dishes are served to a guest

- To assist in the service of drinks when instructed by the Chef De Rang

- To ensure tables are cleared and debris removed in the agreed manner

- To have knowledge of food service techniques in order to serve all food correctly and to the required standard

- To have complete knowledge of all menus, wine lists and specialities offered in the restaurant and to be able to advise guests as necessary

- To assist when required to take guests food orders

- To carry out any other reasonable duties as deemed appropriate by a supervisor

Customer Service

- To deal with all customer and guest comments or complaints and to pass on

any relevant information to the Chef De Rang or Supervisor.

- To be polite & courteous to all guests and visitors to the hotel at all times.

- To adhere to the QHotels Customer Charter

Communication

- To attend and actively contribute towards monthly departmental meetings

Training & Development

- To actively contribute towards your Personal Performance Plan

- To attend any training sessions as advised by your HOD orHuman ResourcesOfficer

Health & Safety

- To maintain hygiene standards at all times whilst cleaning any areas in your department

- To adhere to any cleaning rotas and to sign them off when completed

- To attend all legally required training courses.

- To advise your Health & Safety representative of any concerns

Appearance

- To maintain personal hygiene standards at all times

- To adhere to the QHotels Personal Grooming Standards at all times whilst in

the hotel

- To wear the correct uniform, in good condition whilst on duty and in the

hotel and to take responsibility for the uniform whilst off-duty
